Tracey Jacobs has been a proud Yukoner since 1982.

She and her husband, Peter, have been married for 33 years and have two children as well as a granddaughter.

“My husband and I have been in business together most of our careers,” she says. They were both placer miners together in the Gold Fields of Dawson City for more than 12 years and enjoyed the mining lifestyle as well being in the great Yukon outdoors daily.

For the past two years, Tracey has been a familiar face at many local craft fairs across the territory, where she showcases works of art from her custom metal fabrications business, JJ Designs. She continues to work alongside Peter with the couple’s other business as well, Mosquito Jet Boats.

Tracey has always had a creative side but says she did not have the time to dedicate to it while mining. When the family purchased a CNC plasma cutter for Mosquito Jet Boats, she realized she could also use it to create unique, custom art pieces.

The couple describes themselves as avid outdoors adventurists who love exploring Yukon’s diverse landscapes. They both enjoy racing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, motorcycling, boating, camping, hunting and fishing.

“We also enjoy raising various animals on our hobby farm,” Tracey says. Over the years they have provided homes to chickens, turkeys, ducks, quail, pheasants, pigs, a potbelly pig, rabbits, guinea pigs, lizards, and of course dogs and cats.

Tracey has volunteered countless hours for events and causes connected to the family’s many hobbies. She was the president of White Out Snowmobile Racing Club for many years as well as the Acting Race Director for all of their events, including Thunder on Ice, a 500-mile snowmobile lake race previously held in Whitehorse.

In addition to those roles, Tracey notes she has spent many hours with family and friends at the snowmobile track, the motor cross track, soccer fields, basketball courts, concerts, and the dance studio as a coach, cheerleader, and/or as the main driver for “Mom’s Taxi Services.”

“I fully understand what it is like to raise a family and run a business in the Yukon,” Tracey says. “My family has lived in the Lake Laberge area for many years and I can relate to the kind of lifestyle the people in the Lake Laberge riding are passionate about and the future they are looking for. I strongly believe in advocating for our town, our businesses, and our residents. I hope you will consider me as your candidate for Lake Laberge."
